Emma for MINDBODY: Segmentation

By pairing up Emma for MINDBODY with our powerful segmentation tool, you'll be on your way to sending beautiful email campaigns that strategically target your audience.

If you're new to segmenting, you'll want to first learn the basics by heading to this article.

Once you're savvy with segmenting, you can refer below for instructions and use cases for common MINDBODY-based segments.

Client Indexes

In this example, we'll use a client index named Preferred Workout Time with values Morning, Afternoon, and Evening. Head here for more info on client indexes.

  1. Map the Preferred Workout Time client index to an Emma field
  2. Create a segment in which the Preferred Workout Time equals Morning (case sensitive) and name the segment Prefers morning workouts
  3. Repeat Step 2 for each of the remaining client index values

Genders

  1. Map the Gender field
  2. Create a segment in which the Gender field equals Male or Female (case sensitive)

Location

  1. Map any of the location fields: City, State, Zip Code
  2. Create a segment in which the location field equals your targeted location (case sensitive)
Note: data in the City field is listed in ALL CAPS and your segment should reflect this.

Members

  1. Map the Contract Status field
  2. Create a segment in which the Contract Status field equals Active (case sensitive)

Membership Types

  1. Map the Contract Name field
  2. Create a segment in which the Contract Name field equals the name of the type of Membership you want to target

Non-Members

  1. Map the Contract Status field
  2. Create a segment in which the Contract Status field does not equal Active (case sensitive)

Recent Visitors

  1. Map the Overall Last Visit field
  2. Create a segment in which the Last Visit Field is within the last 30 days

Recent New Visitors

  1. Map the First Class Date or First Appointment Date field
  2. Create a segment in which either of those date fields is within the last 30 days

Studio Location

Some franchises are set up with multiple studio locations within one MINDBODY site. If this is the case, a contact's Home Studio ID field will be populated with the corresponding Studio ID for that contact; however, the MINDBODY app does not indicate which IDs belong to which locations.

Here are a few tips for locating the proper ID:

  • If you only have a small handful of locations, you can run reports for each location in MINDBODY, select a contact that is also in your Emma audience, and see which Studio ID comes over for them.
  • If you have many locations, we can manually retrieve your list of Studio IDs. Send an email to our famously-wonderful Support Team at support@myemma.com.
  • The default location - All locations - has the Studio ID set to 0.
